This Sumo is in a farmhouse in Lanarkshire. We had to rebuild the chimney head in faced stone, then line the chimney with a stainless steel liner. We've arranged the flue spigot for smooth chimney access from within. The steel backing plate and slate hearth tiles might seem severe, but once the stove is alight the effect is simple and quite dramatic. The venturi effect that the shape encourages, and the smooth bore of the flue liner combine to create a very dramatic draw as well! The stove will burn quite happily, if slightly less efficiently, with the door open. The best of both worlds, a contained and controllable fire, simple, efficient and built to last. |
